Title: ParkerVision Receives Third D2D Patent
Date: 5/11/2000; Publication: PR Newswire;
Technology Enables Robust Signal Reception While Reducing Required Bandwidth

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., May 11 /PRNewswire/ –
ParkerVision, Inc. (Nasdaq: PRKR) reported it has received its third Direct2Data(TM) (D2D)(TM) technology patent from the United States Patent & Trademark Office. U.S. Patent 6,061,555 covers an application of the company’s D2D direct conversion receiver and transmitter technology using its unique system architecture to enable robust signal reception in environments that contain jamming signals.
The technology achieves enhanced signal reception by transmitting multiple redundant information frequency spectrums. According to the patent, the spectrums can be spaced close together, thereby reducing communication bandwidth requirements. The company’s D2D receiver technology allows accurate and reliable receipt of the spectrums, even when spaced close together.

“We are pleased to have received our third D2D U.S. patent. With many more in the pipeline, this continues the first wave of D2D patents being issued,” said Rob Sterne, a director of the company and ParkerVision’s outside patent counsel at the law firm Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox, P.L.L.C. “Initially, we had to protect these fundamental breakthroughs using trade secret protection because the patents were pending and no patents had issued. With the issuance of a patent, however, we can fully disclose everything contained in the patent document to potential customers, strategic partners, and investors, which should facilitate the commercialization of the technology which we began last year.”

Patent 555 contains a total of 194 claims and cites over 600 references. It is part of ParkerVision’s overall intellectual property strategy, which includes over 50 other patents pending. The company continues to pursue the filing and protection of its patents in the United States and abroad.

ParkerVision, headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, designs, develops and manufactures communication technology platforms and products for the wireless and video industries.Additional information about ParkerVision and its D2D technology is available at www.parkervision.com and www.D2D.com.
