Title: ParkerVision Receives Sixth Wireless Patent
Date: 3/5/2002; Publication: PR Newswire;
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – ParkerVision, Inc. announced today it has received
its sixth U.S. patent for its unique Direct2Data(TM) wireless technology. The
patent covers some of the fundamentals of the Direct2Data transmitter technology
where in a single unified operation an on-channel RF carrier is achieved in a
direct up-conversion from a baseband information signal. Patent #6,353,735 details
a sub-harmonically controlled aperture architecture that enables high performance
direct conversion transmitters that can be implemented in CMOS, the most commonly
available and least expensive silicon semiconductor process.
U.S. Patent 6,353,735 issued to ParkerVision by the United States Patent & Trademark
Office contains 33 claims and cites over 600 references. “Combining this
patent with our already issued and pending receiver patents broadens ParkerVision’s
intellectual property portfolio to include complete Direct2Data based direct
conversion transceivers,” stated David Sorrells, Chief Technical Officer.
This patent further strengthens the company’s intellectual property position.
The company is aggressively pursuing the protection of its RF technology and
has more than 80 additional patents pending and continues to file additional
protection related to its wireless technology. ParkerVision is also pursuing
the development of complete RF transceiver ICs built on the foundation of the
Direct2Data technology. The first products the Company is readying for commercial
availability are for wireless LAN (WLAN) 802.11b with subsequent products for
802.11g, 802.11a, and the cellular/PCS standard CDMA 2000 - 1X.
ParkerVision, headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, designs, develops and manufactures
communications technology platforms and products for the wireless and video industries.
